Puzzle Retreat — Privacy Policy

This policy covers the Puzzle Retreat web player, the Discord activity, and the TikTok mini game, all operated by The Voxel Agents Pty. Ltd. at puzzleretreat.com and inside Discord and TikTok. The short version: we run a free puzzle game, and we collect as close to nothing as we can get away with.

1. What we collect

• Solve progress. Which daily puzzles you've solved and in how many moves. This is stored on your device: in your browser's local storage on the web, or in the TikTok app's own storage for our mini game. It is not sent to our servers.
• Discord identity (optional). If you play the Discord activity and tap "Authorize", Discord shares your user id, username, display name, and avatar with the game. We use this to greet you and to keep your progress separate from other people using the same device. If you decline, the game still works and stores progress anonymously.
• Ordinary server logs. Like nearly every website, our host records standard access logs (IP address, request path, timestamp) for security and troubleshooting. These are not used to profile players.

2. What we don't do

• No advertising and no ad trackers on the web player or in Discord. The only advertising anywhere is in the TikTok mini game, described below.
• No analytics of our own beyond the server logs above. (TikTok keeps usage statistics about our mini game on its side; see section 4.)
• No sale or sharing of personal information with third parties.
• No accounts, passwords, or email collection.

3. Discord

Inside Discord, Discord itself processes your data under its own Privacy Policy. Authorization uses Discord's standard OAuth flow; our server exchanges a one-time code for a short-lived token and passes only that token back to your game session. We do not receive your email address, your message history, or your server list.

4. TikTok

Our TikTok mini game runs inside the TikTok app, where TikTok processes your data under its own Privacy Policy. We do not receive your TikTok account details: the game never asks you to log in, and TikTok does not tell us who you are.

The mini game fetches each day's puzzles from puzzleretreat.com, which produces the ordinary server logs described above and nothing more. TikTok itself collects usage analytics about the mini game (how often it is opened, how long sessions last, and the like) under its own Privacy Policy; what we see of that is aggregate, non-identifying statistics in TikTok's developer tools, never anything about an individual player.

The mini game shows advertisements: a short full-screen ad may play between some of the day's puzzles, and when your free hints run out you can choose to watch a video ad to top them up (that one is always optional and never required to play). All ads are selected and served by TikTok's advertising system, under TikTok's Privacy Policy; we do not choose the ads and we receive no information about you from them.

Sharing a puzzle from the mini game uses TikTok's own share sheet. We learn nothing about who you share with or who opens it.

5. Where your progress lives, and how to erase it

On the web, progress is kept in your browser's local storage. Clearing site data for puzzleretreat.com (or discordsays.com when playing inside Discord) erases it completely. In the TikTok mini game, progress is kept by the TikTok app on your device, in storage that belongs to our mini game alone; clearing the mini game's data in TikTok, or removing the TikTok app, erases it. Progress is not synced between devices. There is nothing to delete on our side.

6. Children

The game is suitable for a general audience, but the Discord activity is only available to people who meet Discord's minimum age requirement in their country, and the TikTok mini game only to people who meet TikTok's.

7. Changes

If we ever start storing progress on our servers (for example, cross-device sync or leaderboards tied to your Discord or TikTok account), we'll update this policy and the "last updated" date above before doing so.
