🧊 Puzzle Retreat — Terms of Service
Last updated: 20 August 2026
These terms, together with our Privacy Policy, cover the Puzzle Retreat game published by The Voxel Agents ("we", "us"): the iOS and Android apps, the web player at puzzleretreat.com, and the Discord activity. They are the Terms of Use for the game; on iOS, the licence for the app itself is Apple's Standard EULA, linked in section 4. By playing, or by buying a subscription, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use the game.
1. The service
Puzzle Retreat is a puzzle game. The base game, including a set of free daily puzzles, is free to play. Some content is offered through an optional auto-renewing subscription, described in section 2. The web player and Discord activity are free, offer no purchases, and require no account with us.
2. Puzzle Retreat Premium (auto-renewing subscription)
Puzzle Retreat Premium is an optional auto-renewing subscription available in the iOS and Android apps. While it is active it unlocks:
- six additional daily puzzles each day, including harder challenges; and
- unlimited hints across every puzzle.
Premium is offered on two terms: a monthly subscription, billed once per month and providing the above for one month per period, and an annual subscription, billed once per year and providing the above for one year per period. The price of each term is shown in your local currency on the purchase screen inside the app before you confirm, and is set per territory by the App Store or Google Play. There is no free trial.
Payment is charged to your App Store or Google Play account when you confirm the purchase. The subscription renews automatically, and your account is charged the then-current price for the next period, unless auto-renewal is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Renewal is charged within the 24 hours before the current period ends. You can manage the subscription and turn off auto-renewal at any time in your account settings on the store you bought it from; see section 3. Turning off auto-renewal stops future charges but does not cancel the period you have already paid for, and we do not offer partial refunds for an unused part of a period. Subscriptions bought on one store cannot be transferred to the other: an App Store subscription does not entitle you to Premium on Android, and vice versa.
Prices, terms, and what Premium includes may change. We will not change the price of a subscription you already hold without the notice and consent the relevant store requires; where a change needs your agreement and you don't agree, the subscription simply won't renew.
3. Cancelling, managing, and refunds
Apple App Store
Purchases made in the iOS app are sold and billed by Apple. Manage the subscription or turn off auto-renewal in Settings › [your name] › Subscriptions on your device, or at apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription. Refunds are handled by Apple under its terms and can be requested at reportaproblem.apple.com.
Google Play
Purchases made in the Android app are sold and billed by Google. Manage the subscription or turn off auto-renewal at play.google.com/store/account/subscriptions, or through Payments & subscriptions in the Play Store app. Uninstalling the app does not cancel a subscription. Refunds are handled by Google under the Google Play refund policy.
Restoring
If you reinstall the app or move to another device signed in to the same store account, use "Restore purchases" on the subscription screen to restore Premium. Since Apple and Google handle the billing, we cannot issue refunds, extend a period, or cancel a subscription on your behalf, but write to us and we'll help you reach the right place.
4. Apple end user licence terms
Your licence to use the iOS app is Apple's Standard End User Licence Agreement, at apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula. That agreement governs your use of the app itself; these terms cover the game service, the subscription, and everything else described above. Where the two genuinely conflict for the iOS app, Apple's Standard EULA prevails.
5. Discord
When you play inside Discord, your use of Discord itself is governed by Discord's own Terms of Service. If you choose to authorize the activity, we receive your Discord username, display name, and avatar so the game can greet you and keep your solve history. You can play without authorizing; progress is then stored only on your device. You must meet Discord's minimum age requirement to use the activity.
6. Your data
We keep things minimal: solve progress is stored on your device or in your browser's local storage, and if you authorize on Discord, your basic Discord identity (id, username, avatar) is used to key that progress. If you subscribe, the store gives us a purchase receipt, which we check so we can unlock Premium for you. We don't sell data, run ads, or use tracking beyond what's needed to serve the game. Clearing your browser or app storage removes local progress. Our Privacy Policy has the detail.
7. Intellectual property
Puzzle Retreat, its puzzles, artwork, and name are the property of The Voxel Agents. You may play the game and share links to puzzles; you may not resell the game, misrepresent it as your own, or use our name or assets to imply endorsement without permission.
8. Fair play & acceptable use
Don't abuse the service: no attempts to disrupt it, overload it, probe it for vulnerabilities, circumvent payment or entitlement checks, or interfere with other players' use of it.
9. Availability & warranty
The game is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind. We may change, pause, or discontinue the game (or any daily puzzle schedule) at any time. Where we discontinue a subscription feature you are paying for, we'll give reasonable notice and stop renewals. Solve streaks and progress may be lost, for example if storage is cleared, and we can't guarantee their preservation.
10. Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, The Voxel Agents will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss arising from your use of, or inability to use, the game. Nothing in these terms excludes rights that cannot be excluded under applicable law, including the Australian Consumer Law.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time; the "last updated" date above will change when we do. Continuing to play after a change means you accept the updated terms.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia.
